On November 12th, during the match Italy vs Switzerland for the qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, a group of project volunteers interviewed football fans and spectators in order to evaluate their environmental awareness, with the support of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), partner of the project. A total of 49.714 spectators attended the match at the Olympic stadium in Rome and 180 surveys were collected.

Similar activities took place in Sweden at the Friends Arena stadium during the matches Sweden vs Kosovo on October 9th and Sweden vs Greece on October 12th, with the support of SvFF. Romanian supporters will also be interviewed at the Voluntari stadium with the support of FrF.

“Through this survey, we want to measure the level of environmental awareness of fans and supporters following the awareness raising activities previously undertaken as part of the LIFE TACKLE project” stated Alessio Novi, researcher at Sant’Anna School of Advaced Studies and coordinator of the group of volunteers in Rome. “These results will allow us to assess the impact and effectiveness of the project’s awareness raising campaign”.

After all surveys are collected and analysed, the project consortium will draft a report and disseminate these original data.
